Nasum, Nahid to arrive late in UAE due to visa issues
Bangladesh has started gearing up for the three-match ODI series starting November 4th at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium without the uncapped Nahid Rana and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. Both of them have not reached the UAE due to some visa issues. It has also been learned that for the first ODI, the Bangladesh team management did not intend to bring the two players into the match squad for the first ODI.
Three of the participating nations, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, arrived in Sharjah as the UAE-based nation waited to receive Bangladesh. The BCB officials are concerned about visa complications and have urged the new government to simplify processes. Nafees also shared that static BCB officials are working abroad to expedite the nationality issuance process. Nafees indicated that both players may travel within 48 hours, although they have not yet arrived.
When asked when they will travel to Sharjah, he said, “This is more of a rhetorical question than an answer. From previous conversations, and from now on, it is more focused on timing than numbers.”
Bangladesh had departed Dhaka in two batches on November 3 and 4 in anticipation of the matches, given that the series was set to commence with the first game on November 6, with the other two matches of the series being November 9 and 11. These two sets of the squad will be prepared in Dubai before the series.
The fact that Nasum and Nahid do not possess the visa required to travel to Dubai is the reason why they are both remaining at BCB Academy premises.
