As election results were announced, Lichtman and his son appeared dismayed during their live stream broadcast.
Allan Lichtman, a well-known political historian who has been referred to as a “Nostradamus of the opinion polls,” appeared stunned during the live stream while witnessing how Donald Trump actually won and defied his predictions for America’s presidential elections on Wednesday, November 4, 2020.

Wion News reported that the US presidential elections took place on November 3, 2020, and Allen Lichtman was live streaming the event on his YouTube channel that was hosted on his YouTube channel. This was the election where the 77-year-old professor’s son, Sam, also teamed up and sat with him as America fatefully made its choice.

Since 1984, Lichtman has predicted 9 out of 10 presidential elections accurately. However, at times he wished he never placed such massive bets when the Republican candidate started taking a key lead when he was supposed to make the final prediction before Harris.

In that case, he was seen simply repeating “I don’t get it,” while Trump’s success in the election was successively illustrated in the live stream.

“This is the first moment of the night where I’ve lost hope a little bit," said Sam when Trump had won the state of Pennsylvania.

Lichtman rubbed his eyes and said, “Unfortunately, there are no interviews tomorrow,” making it clear that he was not likely to engage with anyone tomorrow, meaning he had nothing planned for tomorrow and thankfully so.

He created the “Keys to the White House” metrics that include thirteen categories that determine a winning chance for the candidates of either major party.

This time around, according to Lichtman, Harris had the upper hand on eight metrics as opposed to Trump, who had three.

As for the inauguration, Lichtman looks troubled and almost frustrated because, according to him and his son, live streaming was about to end and “Trump was ahead in all seven critical states” that really mattered for the win.

“Oh, the democracy’s gone. I never thought I would say that. If ever a democracy is lost, I don't know how a country could just come back. The only saving grace would be when dictators themselves lose a war," he explained.

That being said, Sam is hopeful that Trump fulfills his presidency and goes back, leaving no stone unturned, so America wouldn't have to deal with him ever again.

To which Lichtman responded, “I must have said it a thousand times, but I’ll say it again. Democracy is something all should treasure. And like all things that are precious, it’s easy to ruin, especially from the inside out.”

The century has been nothing short of a downshift for the entire democracy around the globe, including America that has finally joined the choir.”
