Amazing Rauf And Rizwan break their own records and set new milestones in ODI cricket.
A missed opportunity for a new CATCH-OUT record for Rizwan as he drops Zampa off a Naseem Shah in the 34th Over
Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf and captain Mohammad Rizwan have achieved significant milestones in one-day internationals during the second match of the three-match series against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
Rauf becomes the highest wicket-taking Pakistani bowler in the first 39 ODIs of his career, having taken 77 wickets so far. He has outperformed pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi and former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who took 76 wickets each in their first 39 ODIs.
It is estimated that Australia’s Mitchell Starc was able to get 79 wickets in his first 39 ODIs.
The Pakistani pacer made his debut on October 30, 2020, and since then has been able to achieve the remarkable feat of 77 wickets, making him the most successful fast bowler statistically from any of the full member countries.
The only other pacer who managed to surpass the number of wickets taken by Haris after his debut in the ODIs is Bilal Khan of Oman, who managed to take 83.
In contrast, Rizwan became the member of the selected club of wicketkeeper batsmen who, during the same match, completed six catches. Australia's Adam Gilchrist, South Africa’s Mark Boucher and Quinton de Kock, England’s Alec Stewart and Matt Prior, Scotland's Matthew Cross, and his fellow compatriot Sarfaraz Ahmed are the other cricketers who have achieved this milestone.
Apparently, the 32-year-old is siding with the opportunity to establish a new record as he missed catching Zampa of Adam in the 34th over bowled by Nassim Shah.
