Two wickets in one over! The dreadful Lance Morris has removed Saim Ayub and Shafique.
The second ODI match between Australia and Pakistan is shaping up to be quite the spectacle. Australia lost the first inning, scoring only 140 runs and it’s Pakistan batting now with a promising start, the openers sharing a stand of 84 runs. There was a fair likelihood that the visitors would win the game with ease, but Lance Morris has now made a mess of things for Australia and has made the game interesting by dismissing both openers. The first wicket is also how Australia had got it earlier, with Abdulla Shafique caught on the very first ball of the penultimate over, which was taken by Morris, who was following through. Abdullah Shafique was trapped on the flush row. It was an attempted off-drive where he only managed to hit it inside the field straight towards Morris. This was a great piece of bowling, and for the first time Australia was able to score some runs. He scored 37 off 53. Lance Morris Dismisses Saim Ayub To Get Australia Back Among The Games Ayub was Morris’s next victim in the very next over, a critical wicket for Australia to retrieve some control over the sway of the match. He was on 42 off 52 balls and Morris got him out via a shortish ball tossed up outside off. Ayub attempted to nudge it to the off side, but unfortunately was caught on the thin inside edge and the ball crashed into the stumps. This was precisely the opening they needed, and they would now be looking for a couple of additional rapid dismissals in order to exert pressure on Pakistan once again in the decider. Australia managed to do well in the first leg of the series, but ever since then Pakistan have held the upper hand and with a win in the second match, they remain the favourites for this final fixture as well.
