Pacer Abbas Afridi is filled with confidence ahead of the clash against Australia
Developing our skills is a key point as we get ready for the tough conditions in Australia,” he stresses.
Karachi: Those days are long gone when chasing Pakistani pacers in T20 was regarded as a daunting challenge, not with Abbas Afridi in the side. His debut against Australia is going to be a unique experience, as he plans to teach not only simple theory but also practice to learn himself.
In fact, we have advanced this plan to Amar Jowhar and Sameer Khan as well. In previous reports, strokes were futile. It was conspicuous that Jowhar did not need extra practice to tackle spinners as he mastered the English attack in England last year, best displayed during controversies over Cameron Green's second strike.
A special training camp was set up just before the tour to the west in Australia, which worked wonders. It was drastic; he seems to be targeting. We've been playing here for weeks and so far things appear to be under control back in Australia," adds Amar Jawhar.
The camp ahead of the tour didn’t do a good job of hosting members, as once Jawhar graduated from the Academy, he arranged the air raid of the weaker English attack in England.
This is all part of how slowly he picks up plays in new conditions, adding that previous thoughts could come through useful.
Which didn’t require too much effort, as according to Amar Jawhar, things are under control and what the plan amounts to all too. I've played Australia before, so I have a sense of what to expect. We’ve made plans for the opponents and I’m looking through it all to give my best.’
I view Cummins as a great player, and I will be looking to learn some skills from him throughout this series.
Then, throughout the course of the interview, Afridi stated that he aspires to deliver as an all-rounder for Pakistan and that he has been putting in the effort to ensure that is the case.
"Batting has always been my favorite. I want to be an all-rounder, even though bowling is my primary responsibility. I spend some time in the nets trying to polish up my batting skills too," he stated.
While also praising the captain for his versatility, he commended him for being equally supportive of the younger players. “Rizwan is very motivating. When a bowler gives runs, he still tries to motivate him, which is essential for a junior like me,” he stated.
